Biography

Celia Rivero Santana (1995) is a composer, arranger and orchestrator from Canary Islands (Spain). She began studying music and movement at the age of 4 and piano with 6. In 2013, after obtaining the Professional Piano Degree, she enters the Music Composition career at the Conservatorio Superior de Música de Canarias.

In 2015/2016, she is awarded with a scholarship by the Mapfre Guanarteme Foundation to study one year of music composition at the Giuseppe Tartini Music Conservatory in Trieste (Italy) through the Erasmus + program.

She has premiered several chamber and choral music compositions in emblematic places of Gran Canaria, like La Casa Museo Tomás Morales, Villa de Moya, Teatro Pérez Galdós or Sala de Cámara del Auditorio Alfredo Kraus. She has also done orchestral arrangements for the Orquesta Universitaria Maestro Valle, conducted by the composer, violinist and founder of ‘Barrios Orquestados’, José Brito.

In 2017, the `Gran Canaria Big Band ́ selected her composition `Waltz to Jazz ́ from among five candidates, playing it in the Auditorium of the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, during the concert" Arreglos de Autor IV ".

In June of 2017 she was graduated in the specialty of Music Composition, under the tutelage of Laura Vega, at the `Conservatorio Superior de Música de Canarias ́. Sauro Berti, bass clarinetist of the “Teatro dell ́Opera di Roma” has included her composition Rondó for clarinet in B flat and piano within de framework of the European Clarinet Festival in the city of Porto (Portugal): ClarMeet.Porto ́17, performing the piece with the italian pianist Luca Ferrini at the Porto Music Conservatory.

In 2018, she gets the Soundtracks Composition and Music for Audiovisual Media Master at the `Escuela Superior de Música de Cataluña ́ (ESMUC), and her teachers have included composers like Arnau Bataller, Albert Guinovart, Xavier Capellas, Alfons Conde and Alfred Tapscott.
She recorded two music pieces for orchestra, composed for two different shortmovies, for her end of master project with the Bratislava Symphony Orchestra, conducted by David Hernando.

She has composed the soundtrack of some shortmovies, like “La Gent Normal” or “Rusty & Brush”, movies produced by an important film school of Cataluña: ESCAC. She is currently studying the SFTV Máster (Scoring for Film, Television, and Videogames) at Berklee College of Music (Valencia).

Her music shows influences of composers like Tchaikovsky or Ravel, also we can hear some Piazzolla ́s influences on her tangos. She is covering a broad range of musical styles, always trying to search people ́s emotion.
